Frequently Asked Questions:
What is a Chiropractic Subluxation or Motion Restriction?
A subluxation/ motion restriction is a misalignment or lack of motion of one or more of the moveable bones within your spine and body. These can occur when your body's capacity to adapt to stress is surpassed. A few stressors that can cause subluxations to be present within the body are:
• Physical – small falls, car accidents, sitting at a desk for longer periods of time, overdoing your body on the weekend (also termed as a ‘weekend warrior’), poor posture, etc.
• Chemical – improper nutrition, artificial sweeteners, too much caffeine, environmental pollution, workplace exposure, etc.
• Emotional – poor sleep, psychological stress from a loss, financial concerns, unhealthy relationships, etc.
Is Chiropractic safe?
Ultimately the answer is yes. Since Chiropractors use only their hands (and the occasional instrument) to make changes and manipulations to the body, it is very safe. Chiropractors use a multitude of soft and gentle techniques to help aid in the relief from back and/or neck pain or through correcting the interference to the nervous system.
What do I wear to a Chiropractic, Physiotherapy or Kinesiology appointment?
We recommend that you wear comfortable clothing during the appointment that you are able to move and/or exercise in. During any exercise within the gym, proper footwear, including athletic shoes, is highly recommended to prevent any injury from occurring. The Chiropractor or Physiotherapist may ask a client to change into a gown if any restrictions occur or if they are testing ie. spine reflexes, posture analysis of the spine, etc.
What do I need to bring to a Chiropractic, Physiotherapy or Kinesiology appointment?
Any reports that could be of importance, whether a copy of an X-ray or radiology reports, doctors letters, list of medications, etc, will help the Chiropractor, Physiotherapist or Kinesiologist identify the concern and develop the best plan of action.
Do I need a referral to see a Chiropractor, Physiotherapist, Kinesiologist or Massage Therapist?
No, you are able to see the Chiropractor, Physiotherapist or Kinesiologist without a referral. Some insurance companies require a physician prescription or referral for Massage Therapy. Please call us at (519) 539-2020 to book your appointment today!
Can I come to your clinic even though I have been referred to another clinic?
You have the complete freedom of choice to go to any Chiropractic/physiotherapy clinic you choose; you do not have to go to the Chiropractic/physiotherapy clinic sometimes stated at the top of the doctor's referral.
